Discipline (Focus)

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”

Jim Rohn

We all know that discipline is important but we don’t treat it as such. When I say discipline what I really mean is your focus. Focusing on a goal will give you the discipline that you need to achieve that goal. Professional athletes know how important it is to be disciplined. Take a championship boxer for instance. He’s trained hard every day for months to prepare for a fight that he might win or lose. The most important factor for him to win is to remain disciplined and focused on the goal. He must eat all the right foods, and do all the training exercises and run all the miles that it takes in order to be in top shape for a fight. That takes extreme disciple, that takes laser focus.

A bodybuilder goes to the gym for years and years putting in sweat equity, that’s discipline. Working out every day for years to achieve that ultimate physique. Eating all the right foods for years despite all the unhealthy choices we have in life, but remaining focused and sticking to a strict diet. Now when I talk about bodybuilders assume that I am talking about natural bodybuilders, not those who take performance enhancing drugs (steroids). It takes extreme disciple to remain focused on a goal even when you don’t see results right away, trust the process.

We find ourselves wanting more out of life but are not willing to be disciplined enough to get it. Why is that? Why are we not willing to prioritize what’s important and focus only on the things that matter, because everything else is just noise. Everything else that we concern ourselves with day after day does not matter. The only thing that matters is that which is going to get you to the next level so that you can achieve success. Cut out the noise, cut out the extra activities that aren’t going to help you progress forward. Cut out the people in your life (or limit your exposure to them drastically) who are only helping you stay stagnant. Surround yourself with people who will challenge you and break you out of your comfort zone. Stay Focused, be DISCIPLINED, forget everything else.

“A disciplined mind leads to happiness, and an undisciplined mind leads to suffering. ”

Dalai Lama XIV
